How strict are Air Canada's carry-on dimension requirements?

Hey all, I looked upward this topic but the results were all from a few years ago. I'm travelling for the commencement fourth dimension and I'm borrowing a matching prepare of baggage that seems to exist perfect; big suitcase for checked luggage, behave-on roller, and small side bag for a personal "item."

The problem here is the deport-on roller. It fits perfectly on all sides including the alpine finish which is 54-55 cm... except for the flexible handle. If I push it down (with very little effort) it's around 55cm. it'd be about 56-57cm without doing so. Just wondering if the sizers they utilize would compress it enough to push button the flexible nylon handle down a bit, or even if they're that strict at all anymore that a couple centimeters wouldn't be an event.

Thanks for any input :)

I wouldn't put much idea into a couple CMs over their regulation size. The just time when certain airlines even care is during Christmas time.

My experience with Air Canada'south carry on sizing policy have been mostly positive.

Every bit long as your carry on fits into the Air Canada metal sizer---even with modest squeezing attempt---and then you'll be fine.

Notation Air Canada tends to exist more strict when flying smaller shipping (Q400 or E175) than wide-body jumbos (777-300ER) since the quondam has smaller overhead capacity.

Strictness depends on the road and if the aircraft is full or not.
Air Canada is getting more strict, and rightly and then simply a centimeter or two becasue of the handle may not be a problem.

Well-nigh of the fourth dimension they're pretty flexible, just they take had occasional crackdowns where they will have specially-assigned staff checking every carry-on bag size at a particular aerodrome similar Toronto for a day.

...particularly when the flight coiffure themselves are guilty. Frequently time I cannot find room to put my pocketbook virtually my seat, and this is with Zone 1 boarding. Not certain what an FA need for a couple of days that requires 3-4 bags.

One is a flying bag with their documents and schedules and other piece of work related items. I is several changes of uniforms (depending how long and how many legs are on that shift) and the other for own personal clothing. They could be gone up to five days and need clean uniforms each day (and sometimes more than one a day). This is work for them, not simply packing a bathing suit and shorts. :)

I always see check in size luggage that goes to carry on
Only if they plane is full, they will ask people to check in their luggage (gratuitous) or force them to pay and check it in.

Just if they aeroplane is total, they volition inquire people to check in their luggage (free) or force them to pay and check it in.

Therein lays the problem. People are bcomgn aware that they volition check it in at the gate for gratuitous. Saves them bucks but, if the flight is not full, they get away with information technology.
Fortunately, I run into more than and more gate agents making people put their carry ons in the sizer.....no fit, pay luggage fee....good.
